What Color Wedding Dress Should I Get?
What color are wedding dresses? White, right? But which white? You know when you go to paint a room in your house you have tons of shades to choose from. And so it is with wedding dresses.
There are a number of shades to choose from. There’s creamy white, a pure white, and a natural shade white just to name a few. As if there aren’t enough decisions to make in planning your wedding already! How will you pick which shade of white is best for you? There’s a little more to it than just selecting a color that you like.
You’ve got to find out which “white” looks best when you are wearing it. You don’t want to have a wedding dress that overshadows you. The dress should make YOU look good, not the other way around. One thing that means is that you should think about your skin tone and how that interacts with the color of the dress.
If you get an ivory wedding dress and you have yellowish skin tone, you will basically disappear. Same with buying a wedding dress that is pure white if you have a fair complexion. You would simply blend in with your dress and it would not make you look good at all.
If you are fortunate to have a dark complexion, you’ll not have as much trouble finding a good color for your wedding dress. Just about any of the white colors will work with your skin. Got yellowish or dark skin? Then pure white is an excellent way to go for you.
The dress will be beautiful but will not hide you – rather you will stand out. If you do not want the bright white, then natural whites work too. Those bright white dresses can just about put your eyes out if you having an outdoor wedding and the sun hits you right. You can almost look ablaze!
So the softer whites are worth looking into if you think you like those better. What about pinkish skin? A wedding dress with an ivory color is a good choice. For oblivious reasons you wouldn’t want to go with a champagne colored dress.
Some brides with dark or yellow skin decide on some shade of red or with pink touches for a white dress. We haven’t even gotten into the many other colors of dresses including a red wedding dress. Choosing the right colors for your skin has been around for a long time and you have probably used these rules in choosing other clothes.
Now you can apply your experience to choosing the dress! Then again, you may have all the wedding ideas that you stand.
